Apply heat protectant to shield hair from heat damage. Do not exceed medium heat setting. Use a hair oil consistently. Our scalp only produces enough natural oils for our natural hair, so you will need to supplement with a hair serum to allow continued moisture for your extensions.
I recommend sleeping with hair in a low ponytail or braid to ensure hair doesn’t tangle. Never go to bed with your hair wet. I also love using a silk pillowcase or silk lined bonnet to keep hair silky + luxurious.
Make sure to brush your hair and extensions prior to washing to remove any tangles. I find that it's easiest to section out the hair (clip the hair hair above your extensions, use another clip to secure each row, and then leave out the lower section) before washing it as well. Wash and rinse each section well to avoid buildup. Then condition or use a mask on the midlengths and ends.
Yes, you can swim, get your extensions wet, and maintain an active lifestyle! Mineral sunscreen is a must-have for anyone with hair extensions. Avoid chemical sunscreens containing Avobenzone and Octocrylene, which can cause discoloration and a pinkish tone. Before getting into the pool or ocean, wet your hair and apply a leave-in conditioner. And before swimming or exercise secure your hair in a protective style: braid, ponytail, or bun. If you swim regularly, wear a swim cap to protect your extensions. Rinse your hair thoroughly with clean water immediately after swimming to remove any chlorine or saltwater residue. Brush each row individually before and after swimming or exercise to prevent matting and tangling.
